People for Animals, Bangalore rescued 16 cobras 4 vipers and 1 ratsnake , 1 kite , 4 pigeons , 3 bonnetmacaques, 1 squirrel . These were brought to the PFA Wildlife Rescue shelter in Kingeri. Of the animals previously being treated 7 kites, 3 crows , one wild hare and two squirrels were released back into the wild.

People for Animals Faridabad rescued a pregnant injured donkey in April an a dog whose hindquarters had been eaten by maggots. PFA Faridabad runs a helpline :

Preet Ravi of People for Animals Khanna, Punjab. This dog was hit by a car and had three legs and ribs broken. She was howling and the shopkeeper paid a cleaner to throw her into the garbage. She was rescued and her broken legs pinned. She is now well and had been adopted and has become a mother.

On 30th April 2008 a PFA team in a joint operation with the local forest department rescued 6 Indian Tent turtles in to a shop from Ghaziabad The shopkeeper has been arrested .and a case registered under the Wildlife Protection Act 1972 under sec 9,39,50,51. The turtles, which are protected under Schedule 1 of the Wildlife Protection Act as severely endangered species have been released in the Hindon river.

February 2008

1. Two adult stray dogs were rescued from the premises of Amritanda Magi Mutt at Karunagapally. They were transported to the PFA shelter at Trivandrumin on 7.2.2008. A badly injured stray puppy was rescued and treated at a member’s residence for 3 weeks and was adopted on 20.2.2008.
2. An American film “An Inconvenient Truth’ based on ecological problems was screened in Fatima Mata National College on 18.2.08

March 2008

1.A Pfa member rescued 3 stray puppies from Karunagapally which were brought to Kollam and then adopted out on 10.3.08 .
2. A litter of 4 abandoned puppies was rescued and taken to Trivandrum PFA shelter.
3. Two cases of cruelties to elephants were brought to the notice of The Conservator of Forests Southern Circle and he was requested to provide details of action against the perpetrators.

After a local disturbance , residents of ‘ Ramgarh Ki Dhani’ near Aadalwaada Village in Sawai Madhopur, fled their village leaving behind tethered livestock. who went without food and water for some days before PFA was alerted. PFA Sawai Madhopur rushed to the area to and provided food and water to the abandoned animals. 30 goats, 2 cows, 2 buffaloes, 2 buffalo calves, 2 calves, and 450-550 hens are under the care of the members of PFA, Sawai Madhopur.

January 2008
1. A team of PFA Sonebhadra caught a truck overloaded with animals, 6 of whom were already dead. The offenders were reported to the police and arrested under the PCA Act 1960. PFA took charge of the surviving rescued animals.

2. PFA Sonebhadra visited the ‘Maagh Mela’ Allahabad ( Prayaag) and met with the local administration and organizers to check the arrangements made for the proper care of the animals at the fair. The shelter area where the animals are kept was inspected and healthcare arrangements were checked with the veterinary doctors. Madaris were kept under strict vigilance to prevent the use of prohibited species like monkeys and snakes. Visitors to the fair were informed of acts that amount to cruelty against animals and birds.

2007-2008
1. Four cases related to animal cruelty, wildlife hunting and illegal cutting of trees were reported to police and six culprits were sent to jail.
2. 100 homeless dogs suffering from serious skin disease were treated with medicines.
3. Plantations of 1000 trees were done.
4. 20 monkeys,50 snakes, 500 birds and 135 turtles were freed from poachers
5. 20 pairs of bullocks which were being smuggled for slaughter were rescued with the help of the police and distributed to needy farmers.
6. 1000 booklets on animal welfare were printed and circulated among the public in Shahjahanpur District.
7. Special emphasis is being given to conservation of the Saras ( Grus Antigon).

1. Stopped the illegal killing of street dogs at Darasuram Town Panchayat through the intervention of the District Collector.
2. Stopped the illegal killing of street dogs at Vepathur Town Panchayat.
3. Completed the ( ABC ) Animal Birth Control operation for 900 street dogs within the Kumbakonam Municipal Limit.

14 aged horses retired from West Bengal Police Training College, Barrackpore have been provided permanent shelter and are being taken care of. They would otherwise have been shot.

2007-2008

1. Re-homed an abandoned Labrador dog
2. Provided shelter to a pregnant stray dog and have found homes for her puppies.
3. Worked with the police to raid a pet shop selling Red-Ringed Parakeets. The owner was arrested and the birds were freed.
4. Conducted a vet camp jointly with the local vet clinic at Kulasekharapuram, a village about 35 kms from Kollam. Cattle feed and minerals were sponsored by Kerala Feeds Ltd. Medicines were collected from medical representatives.
5. Conducted a vet camp in Thazhuthala village wherein 30 dogs were vaccinated against rabies. Cattle feed and medicines were distributed.
