Injured Horse Rescued by Indian Army

Background Based on inputs recd regarding an injured horse in the gen area of Pushteng, in Pulwama district near NH 44 in South Kashmir, an Army Veterinary team and RR unit of Chinar Corps located the animal few hundred meters from the National Highway about 30 min North of Bijbehara Town.

Likely Incidence Inputs and interaction with the local villagers indicated that the animal was perhaps hit by a vehicle 3-4 days back and abandoned. The villagers shifted the horse off the road.

Action - The Army Team on reaching the location assessed the condition of the animal. The horse, apart from injuries, was also suffering from hypothermia due extreme cold. The horse was administered with IV fluids and injections by the Mil Vet Team in situ.

The Team simultaneously got in touch with the Local Adm and org a horse ambulance.

The horse was subsequently evacuated to Advance Veterinary Hospital, Haft Chinar.
